Local abstract art adorning the walls, an eccentric collection of armchairs and couches, local, genuinely indie music playing softly from the speakers – walk into Lestat’s and you will think that you have found coffeehouse gold. Lestat’s seems to be the perfect cafe, but a closer look shows that it is nothing more than pyrite.
Reality hit me as soon as I approached the glass pastry case. Filled with scores of pastries ranging from vegan lemon bars to cupcakes drawn on with decorative frosting, it had seemed incredibly inviting from the doorway. It was also occupied by a pair of flies doing God-knows-what on the pastries. This did n...
The Falconer’s Entertainment editors, Eva Lilienfeld and Cory Lomberg, are under the impression that, on occasion, I have worthwhile things to say. Regardless of how they got such an idea, they have graciously given me this space to talk about music every month.

North County San Diegans can now become a part of the phenomenon surrounding the Food Network show "The Great Food Truck Race." Every Friday from 6-9 p.m., food trucks gather at 1060 South Coast Highway 101 in Encinitas to showcase their unique menus and approaches to food. The lineup includes Super Q, Thai 1 On, Crepes Bonaparte, Not So Fast Food, Sweet Treats, Bitchin Burgers and Brats Berlin.
The trucks assemble at the same location every Friday and open their doors to serve curious customers.
"For the most part, the food seemed natural and healthy," Chris Watson (12) said, who attended Food Truck Friday on Sept. 14.
